personal update

I finally bit the bullet and began the long and tedious process of converting all of my oversize artwork into digital form. Over the next month or so I should have all of the material organized and uploaded.

Already, I have quite a bit available through a new set of links on the side bar of the main page. They all point to my Picasa web album account, so bear with me as I begin the process of finding a more permanent gallery option. In the meantime, though, feel free to browse in the slide show mode; I've attached captions where appropriate.

links : chasseurs de dragons (animation)

Yet another reason to work with the French... I love the style of their animation.

Plot synopsis ( imdb )

Dragon Hunters is a fantastic tale telling the adventures of two dragon hunters: the world has become a vast conglomerate of islands of varying size and shape...

Arthur Qwak

If you appreciate the series of 2D animation French "Hunters Dragons", any adaptation 3D film released next year. The project has just returned to production, the animation will be provided by the studios Mac Guff Ligne (France), LuxAnimation (Luxembourg) and Trixter (Germany), all produced by Futurikon with a budget of 12 million euros, also with as partners France 3 Cinema, RTL TVi, Canal + and TPS. There are Arthur and William Ivernel Qwak to achieve, and he should know that this project is not because a recent pilot nice little 3D was produced in 2001 at Sparx, well before the series.

freelance gallery update

I've added 4 pieces to the gallery, though keep in mind that the first slide is still a work in progress. Once I receive the completed composition I'll swap it in for the existing one.

[ updated 1/11 :: a more current slide show of freelance pieces can be found in the next post ]

The Pixar blog
The upcoming at Pixar blog

and a piece in Variety about Brad Bird

"The whole question of writing for animation is skewed" says Bird, whose next project will be his live-action debut. "There isn't a giant difference between animation and live action. You need characters, stories, themes. It's called good storytelling."

Which is why this man will always continue to be a great inspiration.

personal update

The New Year is fast approaching and I'm continuing to work on new promotional material.
The business cards have been slightly modified and are now printed, sitting in a teetering blue stack next to me.
I'm really liking how the new print book is shaping up. When I get the finalized version of one of the prints I'll start assembling a final version for print.

Starting to assemble ideas for a few new pieces... I'll give a heads up
when they start coming together.

Until then, Happy New Year!

link: 'Duelity' (Vancouver film school)

According to the records of the General Organization of Development labs (GOD) it took a mere six days to manufacture a fully-operational universe, complete with day, night, flora and fauna, and installing Adam as its manager to oversee daily functions on Earth.

That's one story.

If thou shalt believe the Book of Darwin, t'is five billion years after The Big Bang that we behold what the cosmos hath begat: the magma, the terra firm, the creeping beasts, and mankind, whose dolorous and chaotic evolution begat the gift of consciousness.

Duelity is a split-screen animation that tells both sides of Earth's origins in a dizzying and provocative journey through the history and language that marks human thought.
